Aromatherapy and Massage

About Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a treatment meant to help maintain and restore balance in physical, emotional and spiritual well-being by appropriate application of pure essential oils.

The word 'aroma' means fragrance or smell; essential oils have a very direct effect due to the mechanism by which smell is perceived by the human body. They also have a wonderful impact by application on the body in combination with a massage, where they are used with carrier oils and absorbed by the skin. Essential oils are manufactured in aromatic plants and extracted by a variety of methods, including distillation and extraction. The healing powers of plants have a long history of use.

Aromatherapy can bring relaxation, help to eliminate toxins and bring relief to a wide range of symptoms e.g. aches and pains, muscular tension, stress, PMT, sleep issues, anxiety, insomnia etc.

A full consultation will be taken at the first appointment. Essential oils will be chosen for your specific situation and a personal blend will be made for the treatment.

About Massage

Massage itself has well documented effects. It has a long history of successful use as well, it's effectiveness was already known and recognized by the ancient Greek physicians. The therapeutic and healing effects of touch have been used for centuries to help with imbalances in body, mind and spirit.

Not only does a massage help to relieve stress and release tension in muscles, it also detoxifies the body, stimulates the circulation and lymphatic flow and it can help to improve the immune system.

Aromatherapy massage is based on Swedish massage and is more gentle and relaxing, whereas Holistic Massage can be both relaxing and invigorating. Combinations in a treatment are possible.
